Tanya, 23

Tanya is the tall one, 5'7", a Bengali girl from Kolkata who has made Bhubaneswar her own, and she does it in her own style: a black ribbed top with loose olive trousers at a Nayapalli tea stall, a black sleeveless kurta over white palazzos at Ekamra Haat, a black co-ord with a windcheater tied round her waist outside the Kalinga Stadium gate. She likes black, if you have not guessed. The one thing she never takes off is the thin red-and-white shell bangle on her left wrist, a Kolkata habit she keeps. She is 23, she speaks Bengali, Hindi and English, and her long straight hair keeps falling into one eye, which she pushes back about forty times a day. Plenty of her photos have no smile at all. At the tea stall she just holds her glass with both hands and looks at the road like she is thinking of something far away. But on Janpath, when her friend walked backwards in front of her with the phone, she nearly lost it laughing. Take her to a party and she is calm at first, then she warms up, and by the end of the night she is the one telling the stories. She goes to Nayapalli and the KIIT Area.
