Urvi, 25

Urvi's favourite place in Bhubaneswar is a saree counter in Kharvel Nagar. She can stand there for an hour. The shop boy pulls down one folded cotton saree after another, and she holds each one up to the light, close to her eyes, to see the weave. She rarely buys. She just loves looking.

She is from Bhubaneswar itself, 25, an Odia girl whose Hindi and English are as easy as her Odia. She is the girl-next-door type. Look at her photos: a navy kurta and a stole on the footpath near AG Square, a grey office shirt with the sleeves rolled while she sorts old files on the floor, a black thread on her wrist. Simple clothes, and her long hair in a low bun with a clip.
